State and Local Policy Recommendations

The Veterans Policy Leadership Institute (VPLI) gathered national partners together during 2015 to begin a conversation about how to fill this void now by leading a national policy discussion about state and local policy practice that could advance outcomes for veterans and their families today. Our goal is to begin to illustrate and aggregate models, data and examples of innovative system, policy, program and practice change that is occurring at the state and local level, anchored in research, data, metrics, in states and communities with initiatives already underway, that will mean the difference between failing and thriving for thousands of our nation’s most valuable assets: our veterans and military families. The report, which will be published in January of 2016, is a result of those conversations, and our research into the state and local policy space for veterans across the country.
